For those who are coming to the 11th Annual ROCKY MOUNTAIN SUPER RACE at NORRIS PENROSE EVENTS CENTER the pre-entry draw is posted under our "DRAWS" tab. We can't wait to see you there and have posted the following event related information to help you in your travels.
The 11th Annual Dos Suertes Equestrian Center Rocky Mountain Super Race
Presented by Hitchin' Post Trailer Sales & Rolling Thunder Conversions is proudly produced by Spin3 Productions.
We're looking forward to a fun weekend in the Rockies. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call Bonnie Wheatley at 719.338.5263 or via email at reganwheats@earthlink.net (until Thursday night).
Pre Entry Check-In: When you arrive at the race, be sure to stop by the office to check-in and pick-up your PROGRAM!! When you do this, you will be entered in the drawings and eligible for extra goodies! We will announce winners throughout the weekend. All awards must be redeemed at the race.
Directions: I-25 to Exit 141 Cimarron Street / Hwy. 24 West. Turn left, west, after you get off I-25 then.
This is the quickest way, but the turn onto Rio Grande is quite steep and some long rigs drag.
go to the first major intersection with a light and turn left, south, on 8th Street. (This is about ¼ of a mile from I-25.) Go south on 8th Street to the 2nd light and turn right on Rio Grande. Norris-Penrose Event Center will be on the left at the top of the hill. When you turn into the facility, bear left and go down the paved road toward the stalls for overnight trailer parking.
Alternate route for those with longer rigs that might drag.
head west to 21st Street. Turn left, south, on 21st Street. (This is about 1½ miles from I-25.) Go south on 21st Street to the 3rd light, which will be Rio Grande (it is at the bottom of a big hill). Turn left, east, on Rio Grande and go about ½ mile and turn right at the stop sign. You will still be on Rio Grande. Go about 3/10 of a mile to the Norris-Penrose Event Center main entrance. The sign is green and white. (You will pass one entrance to Norris-Penrose Event Center right after you turn at the stop sign - do NOT go down this entrance.) When you turn into the facility, bear left and go down the paved road toward the stalls for overnight trailer parking.
Stalls/Camper hook-ups/Overnight Parking: Stalls will be available after 3:00 P.M. on Thursday. If you arrive before that our crew will be setting up the arena. We will be able to unlock stalls and hook-ups for you. The official "Stall Man" a.k.a. Josh, will be staying in a white Sooner trailer, parked by barn #1. He will be there 24 hours a day for your convenience. If you have already paid for your stall/hook-up/overnight parking, he will have your name on a list. If you need to pay for a stall/hook-up/overnight parking, you can pay him OR pay at the office. Josh will be the only one to open stalls/hook-ups, so please be patient. The facility does require shavings in stalls. They will have shavings available for $7 a bag or you can bring your own. For those of you who have specific requests, you may choose your stalls and your neighbors on a first-come, first-serve basis. We're asking that you please strip your stalls clean to the center aisle of the barn when you leave! The facility charges an extra $5 for any stall that is not stripped clean - that fee will be passed on to those who do not clean their stalls. Also, please do not dump your trailers on the grounds except at designated areas at the ends of the barns!
