RULES:
1. You do NOT need to be a member of any association to enter ANY of our classes. Applied for BBR, WPRA, AW4D (5x points) and we are SCBRA approved and a Mile Hi Barrel Horse Assn. Affiliate Race (see milehibarrelhorse.com for points system). If you're a member of any of these associations, you must put your member # on your entry blank for points to count. If you put your AW4D member number on the entry blank, you must pay an extra $2 per run in the Open, Youth and Senior classes (per the AW4D guidelines) for your points to count for AW4D. That money goes directly to AW4D. If you do not indicate that you are an AW4D member, you will NOT be required to pay the extra $2 per run.
2. PRE-ENTER & AVOID LATE FEES. Postmark date is APRIL 28, 2008. Draw to be posted no later than Wednesday, May 7. ONE TIME LATE FEE OF $15 will be charged to all OPEN 4D entries.
3. Western dress code required for all classes except practice runs (hat or helmet, long sleeve shirt and boots or heels down). Pixel Worx Photography & many of our sponsors will be on site.
4. Spin3 Productions reserves the right to deny entry to anyone for reasons such as unsportsmanlike conduct, dishonesty, harassment or threatening behavior and/or animal abuse.
5. All entries and fees taken at the race are CASH ONLY! LATE POSTMARK=LATE ENTRY.
6. Please keep all dogs on a leash as per facility regulations. If a stray dog is found they will call the humane society.
7. No Alcoholic Beverages permitted anywhere at the facility per NPEC policies.
8. We are scheduled to race in the OUTDOOR stadium with ½, ½, ½ second splits. However, we reserve the right to move the races to the INDOOR arena based on arena conditions and/or weather forecast. If moved inside, splits will be ½, ½, ½ second. Contestants will receive a no-time in for knocking over a barrel or breaking the pattern.
Warm-Up: You can use the outside warm-up arenas to the south of the Indoor Arena. Please do not use the warm-up arena to the northwest of the Outdoor Stadium as it is for NPEC boarders only. NO OPEN RIDING in the Outdoor Stadium or Indoor Arena for the duration of the event.
9. For the first time we will offer Riding Sessions in addition to Practice Runs. You may reserve your time slot on your pre-entry form or at the latest Monday, May 5 by 6 p.m. MT. THIS IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE & a little incentive to go ahead and pre-enter. E-mail reganwheats@earthlink.net or call 719.338.5263. There are 10 horses allowed per session & they are $10/per horse for 20 minutes. Session 1: 8 a.m. - 8:20; Session 2: 8:20 - 8:40; Session 3: 8:40 - 9; Session 4: 9 - 9:20; Session 5: 9:20 - 9:40; PLEASE INDICATE WHICH SESSION ON WHICH OF THE THREE DAYS. From 9:40 until we work the arena around 10 we will offer regular exhibitions again FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. They can be purchased at the office or at the gate for $5 each. If we are out of time and you still have not taken an exhibition run, we'll offer a few after the race too.
10. EVERYONE entered in a class must write their horse's registered name on the entry blank. If your horse is not registered, just enter the name you call him. This is for Average calculations and Equi-stat.
11. Anyone riding multiple horses in ANY class must write the name of each horse on their entry blank. When looking at the draw, they must ride the correct horse in each of their draw positions. If you run your horses in the wrong draw position, you may be disqualified from all runs in that class.
12. Roll-Time OPTION: If you are entering the Open 4D as well as any other class, you may choose to have your time in the Open 4D rolled to the second class. You MUST enter both classes before the Open 4D begins and indicate "YES" on your entry blanks by the appropriate Roll-Time option. It's the responsibility of the rider to fill out the entry forms correctly. If nothing is designated & you fail to let the office know what class you wish to roll your time to, your time will NOT be rolled-over and you must run in both classes.
13. Any pre-entry with an insufficient funds check will be taken out of the draw and blacklisted. A late entry may be put in their place or we will run it as a ghost rider and not count them in the payoff. If a pre-entry is a notified turn-out, we reserve the right to switch their draw position with a late entry if necessary. Returned Check Fee $30 / Re-issue Fee $10.
14. Office charges will be retained by office for ALL turnouts in the Open 4D. Vet and/or medical release for pre-entry turnout must be received in writing by Monday, May 5th. Vet and/or medical release for late-entry turnout must be presented in the entry office before the race starts.
15. One-time Open 4D late-entry fee is $15.
16. OPEN 4D - Friday, Saturday & Sunday one run for $55, $2,000 Added each day. 100% payback of Added Money and 75% payback of jackpotted entry fees. There will be a one-time $15 processing fee for the Open 4D only.
17. WPRA - Our Open 4D is WPRA Approved & co-approved for both Mountain States and Turquoise Circuits. If you are a WPRA member and would like for your points to count from this event, you MUST give us your WPRA number before the Open 4D begins. Youth is WPRA approved also.
18. $2500 NOVICE RIDER and $1000 NOVICE HORSE - 1 run for $35. WE ASK FOR HONESTY WITH RESPECT TO YOUR STATUS AS A NOVICE AND TO YOUR HORSE'S LIFETIME EARNINGS. NO LATE FEES. Each class is based on lifetime barrel racing earnings of cash and prizes for either the horse or rider. If you are not positive about your winnings, you should not enter these classes. If there are up to 19 entries, the class will be run as a straight jackpot; 20-39 entries in either of these classes on any given day, we will run that class in a 3D format using ½, ½ second splits. If there are 40 or more entries, it will be run in a 4D format using ½, ½, ½ second splits. (If moved to the Indoor Arena, 3D splits will remain ½, ½ second, but 4D splits will be ½, ½, ½ second.)
19. Youth 18 & Under 4D - 1 run for $35. Must be 18 or younger to enter. Enter at race with NO LATE FEES.
20. Senior 50 & OVER 4D - 1 run for $35. Must be at least 50 years of age to enter. Enter at race with NO LATE FEES.
21. Horses may enter each race only once, unless ridden by an immediate family member. A rider may enter multiple horses in any class except the $2500 Novice Rider. NO switching of draw positions and NO substitution of riders.
22. Big drags will be announced after total entries have been determined.
23. Entries for the Open 4D will close WHEN ANNOUNCED. All other classes will close one class prior. Once entries close, there will be NO refunds for any reason because the payout is already determined.
24. INDOORS: You will enter and exit thru the same gate. The gates will remain open during your run. You are expected to have complete control of your horse when you pass thru the finish line. If this is not possible, you must find someone to close and open the gates for you. If you are unable to do so, please ask the arena director for assistance.
25. OUTDOORS: You will enter through the center alley and exist through the Southwest gate which will be opened upon the completion of your run. You are expected to have complete control of your horse when you pass thru the finish line. If you are unable to do so, please ask the arena director for assistance.
26. Failure to answer three gate calls in any class will result in a scratch. If you are present but having trouble getting your horse into the arena you will have a 60 second time limit to enter the arena or you will be disqualified, treated as a scratch, and asked to dismount and leave the entry area. Arena Director's decision is FINAL.
27. NO training of horses allowed during competition. If you break the pattern, please circle the barrels only once and exit the arena. If the announcer asks you to leave the arena, please do so.
28. All reruns will be the decision of the Arena Director. Rerun will be on a fresh drag. Arena Director's decisions are FINAL. A horse falling down will NOT receive a rerun.
29. If the electric eye malfunctions, you will be given the backup time from the 2nd electric eye. If both eyes fail, you will be given a rerun at the end of the race, top of the ground OR at the Arena Director's discretion. Anyone damaging any of the electric eyes or stands will be held responsible for its replacement.
30. No harassing or threatening of show officials or you will be disqualified and asked to leave.
31. BEWARE....Anyone found treating a horse in an abusive or inhumane manner in the arena or on the rodeo grounds may be disqualified and/or fined up to $100. In extreme cases, the producers retain the right to ask the person in question not to return to one of their barrel races.
32. ONE horse per stall. No horses may be kept outside in pens or tied to trailers overnight. Any horse found outside will be moved to the barn and its' owner charged a $20 stall fee. Shavings are required.
33. We ask that you please strip your stall clean of manure and shavings to the center of the barn before you leave. There will be an extra $5 charge for each uncleaned stall because we are charged that by the facility.
34. HAUL-IN FEE: There will be no haul-in fees. In an effort to keep these fees waived, PLEASE do not clean out your horse trailer on the grounds except at designated areas at the ends of the barns.
35. The Average Champion in the Open 1D wins a Scott Thomas Trophy Saddle; in the 2D, 3D and 4D winners will be awarded beautiful custom KO Trading belt buckles. Second Place Average Winners in the Open 4D will each get a custom Cowhide Brief Bag. Trophy halters will be awarded to the Third Place Open Average Winners. Justin Boots, Formula 707, Wrangler Jeans gift certificates and other great awards will also be given. We prefer you to pick up awards in order to have a photo taken for our sponsors.
36. The 1D average champion will be the contestant with the fastest combined times. The 2D champion will be determined by adding 1.5 seconds to the fastest combined time. The 3D Champion by adding 3 seconds to the fastest combined time. The 4D Champion by adding 4.5 seconds to the fastest combined time. The same horse/rider combination must be used for the average. It is the rider's responsibility to make sure that his or her horse's name is correct on the "official" posted draw sheets. If it is not correct, you must inform Bonnie or Lexie in the entry office before the completion of the Open 4D in order to be eligible for awards. Awards will be given based on the current information at the conclusion of the Open 4D.
37. Average Champions in the $2500 Novice Rider, $1000 Novice Horse, Youth 4D and Senior 4D, will each receive custom KO Trading three-piece buckle sets. In any class that is run in a divisional format, only the 1D champions will receive awards. We will announce the winners as soon as possible after the conclusion of each class.
38. We will be giving daily awards in each division of the Open 4D. We will also be randomly drawing for some of the awards. Anyone entered in the Open 4D must check-in at the entry office to receive a program and automatically be entered into the drawings. You must be present to win awards or make arrangements for someone else to pick them up for you. All awards must be redeemed at the race.
